21. The Reporters

Tom, Bruce and the rest of the Hawkins Post's reporters were there to serve one purpose to the narrative - and that was to motivate Nancy into staging an Agent Carter-like rebellion by hitting back at the patriarchy in her office and ultimately securing the answers that they never could.

They served that purpose incredibly well, being as dismissive and undermining as you'd expect in the process - something that ensured nobody would care about them when they eventually fell victim to The Mind Flayer.

They were fine. Nothing more and nothing less, but given that Bruce was played by the brilliant Jake Busey, you'd be forgiven for wanting just a little bit more from his character.
