These days, it wouldn't be at all surprising for someone somewhere to kick off about the fact that Supergirl is named "SuperGIRL" here rather than "SuperWOMAN". There has been a Superwoman in the comic books (most recently as a member of the Crime Syndicate), but it's a name which is more closely associated with Lois Lane than any of the Supergirls. Regardless, with just a single scene between Kara and Cat, the TV series does a surprisingly good job of making it clear why there's actually nothing wrong with the hero being called Supergirl. This probably won't silence some bloggers/Twitter users, but it's interesting that those behind the scenes decided to include this sort of justification for the name at all.
