Supernatural: The Best Episode From Every Season

15. Season 1 - Faith

Early Supernatural was the best era of the series by far. Season One focused mainly on monster-of-the-week stories, changing the monster every week with the main storyline easily forgotten until it’s brought up again.

Faith is the strongest episode in Season One of the show. As the title suggests, faith teaches us early about Dean’s faith – or lack thereof. After Dean suffers a life-threatening electric shock causing his heart to fail, Sam is determined to save his brother by taking him to a travelling faith healer where he is magically cured of his condition.

Naturally, the boys investigate how the healer can heal others of their conditions and they find out that the healer's wife is controlling a reaper who is killing off random people to take their lives and put it into the lives of the people the healer is saving.

Faith showed the series could be more than just a monster-of-the-week but loosely delved into the complex themes of religion and faith. The episode also gave us one of the best music moments in the series with Blue Oyster Cult’s “(Don’t Fear) The Reaper” playing as we watch a montage of the controlled reaper killing an innocent woman to save another.
