The 10 Worst The Big Bang Theory Episodes
These 10 episodes were more like faint fizzles than big bangs.
First released in September 2007, The Big Bang Theory has since made a home in our hearts with its lovable cast, witty dialogue and hilarious guest appearances. With a grand total of 12 seasons and 279 episodes, this spectacular sitcom created by Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady has won an impressive ten Emmys and has a Rotten Tomatoes approval rating of 82%.
Accolades aside, what makes this show great is that we all have our favourite BBT moments that spring to mind whenever the Barenaked Ladies' classic theme song comes on. Whether it's Sheldon's goofy web series Fun With Flags, Howard's flawless celebrity impressions, or the painful awkwardness of Raj's inability to talk to women, this cast of lovable nerds know how to get laughs more often than not.
Saying that, there have certainly been times when the jokes haven't worked and the laughs have fallen flat. This list will highlight the times that The Big Bang Theory writers have looked less like comical geniuses and more like the un-funny kids at the back of the class eating glue. Over the 12 seasons there has been overused jokes, poorly written character arcs and storylines with huge potential but disappointing pay offs all of which will be put under the microscope in this list.
So if you want to know what episodes were more boring-a than Bazinga (terrible I know) then take a look at the 10 worst Big Bang Theory episodes.
10. The Inspiration Deprivation (Season 12 Episode 19)
After hearing the news that she has a good chance of winning the Nobel Prize, Amy has a meltdown at the university. When she finally cools down, it turns out that she is feeling the pressure of what it would mean for a woman to win the prestigious award. Meanwhile, in a less series storyline, Howard and Raj find a scooter identical to the one they used to have when they were both young, single and hopeless at picking up girls.
Why it sucks: Season 12 is probably the most disappointing series of The Big Bang Theory and this episode perfectly epitomizes why. You can tell that the writers were just writing filler episodes as they crawled towards the grand finale. In this episode, Howard and Raj take a trip down memory lane when they find the scooter but any potential of Howard buying it goes out the window when Bernadette shuts it down and he realises he may have married his mother. Brilliant. They've been making that joke since season 5.
What didn't suck: Regina King and Joshua Malina's characters offer the only good jokes of this episode and their comedic deliveries are excellent.
