The Boys Season 3: 10 Reasons To Be Excited
11. The Next "Girls Get It Done"
Am I the only one who really wants to watch Dawn Of The Seven? Just to see how painfully pandering it was to the cynical use of buzzwords. The overarching minor plot throughout season two pulled off a great visual gag in the final episode, as the female Supes kicked and stomped the Nazi Stormfront to the ground.
All joking aside, The Boys' take on misuse of the concept of "girl power", as well as the growth of modern neo-Nazis were fantastically written takes on some topics that are heavily relevant in the contemporary age.
The relevance of the show could only really be witnessed through a modern lens, and while the two subject matters are completely different, they went in tandem with one another brilliantly with the rise and fall of Stormfront.
For Season 3 to keep the momentum going, it needs to focus its attention on a similar (but fresh) subject matter. It's probably no coincidence that the subject matter of the second season coincides with a generation-defining election in America, and thus maybe showrunner Eric Kripke is waiting for the results before he executes the next story.
Whichever way it goes, you can be sure Kripke no doubt has a plan. But if the confirmed arrival of Soldier Boy (and possibly the whole Payback team) is anything to indicate, could distorted jingoism be the next take?
