The Flash: 10 Major Predictions For Season 2

By James Hunt /

10. A Better Iris

One of the few missteps the show made in its first season was with the character of Iris West, daughter of Joe and someone who had effectively been a sister to Barry as they grew up together. Despite their sibling-like relationship, Barry was secretly in love with Iris, which may have been problematic enough without throwing in the fact he€™s the super speedster who has been racing around Central City fighting bad-guys. Then she started to date Eddie Thawne, who was Joe€™s partner in the police force, creating a bit of a love-triangle (a necessity on The CW network) that didn€™t really play favourably for her. The biggest problem was that the character just came across as extremely annoying, and at times plain unlikable. A part of this was to do with the fact she was the only person close to Barry he hadn€™t revealed his identity to, meaning interactions with the character were different to ones with those in the know, and she did make slight improvements once he finally let her in on the secret. Now that she knows, and with a heroically tragic ending for Eddie, the show should have plenty to go forward with in order to turn the character around, much like the transition of Laurel€™s character in season 3 of Arrow from the version in Season 2.
