By this time last year, it was clear that the Reverse-Flash was going to be a formidable enemy. While Zoom boasts just as much power as his predecessor, if not more, his characterization has rendered him far less threatening. There was a compelling mystery surrounding the Reverse-Flashs motivations and where he came from, and despite those same questions existing for Zoom, theyre far less exciting this time around. Perhaps thats because hes a faceless monster, whereas Reverse-Flash was anchored by Tom Cavanaghs brilliant performance. All of these complaints could go out the window if Zoom unmasks and reveals himself as someone we know (Earth-2 Henry Allen or Eddie Thawne, perhaps?) but as it currently stands, theres little emotional attachment to the villain. His generic motivation is that he wants power for the sake of having power and all hes really done is threaten other villains into working for him. Theres still plenty of time to develop the villain more, but as it currently stands, beyond looking cool and having a menacing voice, Zoom doesnt have much going for him.
