The Flash: Ranking Every Season From Worst To Best

6. Season 4

With the exception of Supergirl, it seems like every Arrowverse show is doomed to have a pretty poor fourth season. That's right, unfortunately even The Flash couldn't outrun destiny this time.

Following in its predecessor's footsteps, the show produced a third season that was both promising and problematic before trying far too hard to distance itself from it and producing a much worse follow-up in the process. Though not even remotely as low as Arrow's fourth offering, The Flash Season 4 still made a lot of the same mistakes as it attempted to channel some of what made the show such a success in the first place - only to unwittingly mistake its glorious light-heartedness for something that was much too corny.

Wally West's replacement with Ralph Dibny sparked controversy while Clifford DeVoe's overpowered nature resulted in a lot of depressingly repetitive episodes. Speaking of which, his reliance on the newly-established bus metas resulted in a deeply convoluted plan that provided the show with the means to produce an endless supply of villain-of-the-week episodes - each one devoted to a specific bus meta. And that, more than anything, made the season an absolute slog to get through.

There is one silver lining in the phenomenal 'Enter Flashtime' - which is one of the show's greatest hours - but not even that was enough to elevate this one from last place.
