Finally, after what seems like an age, Barry Allen is back on our screens€ and the mid-season premiere of The Flash€™s second season brought plenty of shocks and surprises for the Scarlet Speedster and his supporting cast. Throughout the episode, we saw Barry wrestling with the idea of telling Patty Spivot that he€™s really Central City€™s beloved hero, and his indecision on this looks to have cost him dearly by the time Potential Energy comes to a close. And then there€™s the villain of the piece, with this latest episode introducing Russell Glosson, aka The Turtle, into the fold as the rogue looks to give the Sultan of Speed a change of pace. Elsewhere, the recently-arrived Wally West struggles to integrate into the West family, whilst Jay Garrick has been keeping a little secret from those closest to him, although he€™s not the only other speedster in Earth-2 by the time Potential Energy concludes. In terms of mid-season returns, this latest entry for The Flash was a welcome one that, whilst giving viewers the standard villain-of-the-week fodder, looks to have laid plenty of foundations for what is yet to come as the season progresses. Of course, amongst the action were plenty of WTF moments, and here€™s the best of them.

15. Patty Takes A Tumble

From the get-go, The Flash opens with some intense and dark action. Well, bar the romance, flowers and cheesy laughing that served as a prelude to the aforementioned intense and dark action. Torched flowers, casual laughter and a romantic meal seem to be the order of the day for Barry Allen and the now-totally-in-on-the-secret Patty Spivot, only things proceed to take a turn for the worst when uber-rogue Zoom arrives on the scene. Snatching Patty, Zoom speeds off to the top of a building, delivers some nefarious dialogue to Barry, then drops Patty to her death. Not cool, Zoom. Totally not cool. This was a hugely shocking opening that had major repercussions in the whole life of Barry and his world, setting him on a mission to€ oh, wait, it was all a dream. Of course it was.
