The Flash Season 6 Review: 5 Ups & 2 Downs From 'Pay The Piper'

Two jaw-dropping returns ensured that this penultimate episode was one of The Flash's best.

The Flash's sixth season has been quite the journey, as the show that loves taking its fans back and forth in time has done a remarkable job of streamlining its narratives in order to ensure that its current offering is among its best yet.

With the conflicting Black Hole and Mirror Master arcs taking center stage over the past number of weeks, it's pretty clear that the writers have been building towards a marital showdown like no other with Joseph Carver undoubtedly feeling the wrath of his wife Eva McCulloch... or at least that was intention before the season was cut short. Whether or not it comes to pass in Season 6 remains to be seen.

This week's penultimate installment, however, took things in something of a different direction, shedding some light on one of the season's lesser-developed plot threads and, in the process, gave The Flash the Godspeed that it deserved long ago. And, through the reintroduction of another beloved character, the show found its way to a standalone classic.
