The Mandalorian: 5 Burning Questions Season 2 Must Resolve

5. How did Moff Gideon get the Darksaber?

At the conclusion of 'The Mandalorian' season finale, a piece of dangerous Mandalorian history was seen in the hands of the evil imperial Moff Gideon.

For the uninitiated, that relic is known as the Darksaber, an ancient weapon created by the Mandalorian Jedi Tarre Vizsla that was passed down through history. As seen in 'The Clone Wars' and 'Rebels' cartoons, the Darksaber would go on to be wielded by a variety of famous and dangerous users including Darth Maul and Sabine Wren.

While we know that much about this legendary lightsaber, what we don't know is how it fell into the grasp of Moff Gideon. Given Gideon's brutal nature, it wouldn't be a shock to discover he stole the Darksaber, but there's almost certainly more to it than that.

Who did Gideon steal the Darksaber from? Why, besides to look infinitely cool carving up a Tie Fighter, did Gideon want the Darksaber? Those are the kinds of questions that fans are going to be dying to know about the show's villian come season two.

Who knows, maybe there will be the twist of a lifetime, and Moff Gideon will turn out to be a Mandalorian who's lost his way. That would certainly mix up the relationship between the show's titular Din Djarin and Moff Gideon, but it doubtlessly won't change his devotion to protecting everyone's favorite middle-aged baby.
