Episode: Season 23, "Lisa Goes Gaga" The fact that Lady Gaga had an entire episode dedicated to her is absolutely mind-boggling. It's not that she's not talented; we loved her in Machete Kills. It's not that she's not relevant, either - when this episode came out, it was the height of her popularity. And we're not opposed to pop stars being on the show: Katy Perry's live action appearance was fantastic. However, it was just too much Gaga, too over the top, too garish. The only joke that really worked was the obligatory meat dress joke, and given how telegraphed and expected it was, when that's your best, it's not a good sign. In a lot of cases, guest stars on The Simpsons are underutilized. In this case, it was way too much Gaga.
