Season 25 "Days of Future Future" turned out to be the episode that broke the trend of these flash-forward outings being roughly five years apart. Coming just two seasons after "Holidays of Future Passed," this season twenty-five episode was written as a sequel to the season twenty-three story that preceded it. Bart's future ex-wife, Jenda (voiced by Amy Poehler) returns, having left Bart for a creature looking suspiciously like the xenomorph from the Alien franchise. Homer has his conscience transferred to a USB key after being cloned (and dying) too many times, and Milhouse winds up as a zombie - which actually makes him more appealing to Lisa. Bart, meanwhile, takes up residence in the old Springfield Elementary, and struggles at being a dad yet again. As far as future-themed episodes go, this one was a dud, and derivative of earlier, better Simpsons episodes: Martin Prince (as the Phantom of the Opera) already lived below Springfield Elementary; the Homer clone gag was also done previously in "Send in the Clones" as part of Treehouse of Horror XIII.
