The Episode: Twice as Far

How It Happened: Towards the tail end of the season, Alexandria's doctor made the unfortunate mistake of demanding that Daryl and Rosita take her outside of the Safe-Zone's walls and into a world she had never truly faced before. On the way back home, she paid the ultimate price for dropping her guard to give the pair a piece of her mind with no regard to her surroundings, giving a hidden Dwight the opportunity to fire an arrow - meant for Daryl, no less - from the nearby treeline that went straight through her eye.

Why It's On This List: Throughout the entire episode, there was a growing sense that something truly bad was going to happen, and even it was a bit telegraphed, the manner of Denise's death surprised her companions and viewers alike, all of whom had to uncomfortably watch the otherwise innocent character try to finish her thoughts - slurring her final words in the process - before succumbing to her mortal injury. It was a cruel and shocking end for Denise, made all the worse by the fact that justice has yet to be served for her murder.
