The Walking Dead: 50 Best Deaths
3. Lori
The Episode: Killer Within
How It Happened: Thanks to Andrew's actions flooding the prison with walkers, Lori was forced into early labor with Carl and Maggie present, and unable to give birth naturally, the only option was for Maggie to perform an impromptu C-section at the cost of Lori's own life. Accepting her fate, Lori died so that Judith could be born, and was put down by Carl to keep her from coming back as a walker not long after.
Why It Was Great: Like Andrea, Lori was one of the more divisive characters that's been in the series, but love her or hate her, her death was an incredibly moving event early in the show's third season that allowed her and Carl to bond, changed Rick forever, and brought hope for the future to the group in the form of Judith.
