The Walking Dead: 9 Things "Conquer" Got Right (And 1 It Didn't)

The Good...

9. That Opening

Okay, so the €œYou're not exactly going to be alive€ line by the crazy guy with the W on his forehead was pretty goofy, but otherwise that opening scene was one of the best-written and tension-filled openings in the history of The Walking Dead. Seeing a pay off to all those Morgan end credits teases would have been gratifying regardless. The whole five minute sequence was reminiscent of the opening of Inglourious Basterds, with a slow ratcheting up of the stakes. By keeping Morgan an unknown quantity this whole time, and then having him come up against a new threat to the show entirely, it really could've gone either way. And then it went a certain way, and it was totally badass. It rivalled Michonne's debut at the end of the second season, obscured by shadow with two zombies on chains; except Morgan's weapon was, well, a stick. So the fact he managed to take all those guys down single-handedly was even cooler.
