The Walking Dead: Every Main Character Ranked Worst To Best

"We are the walking dead..."

Since day one of The Walking Dead, the show has been all about character. Sure, there's a ton of zombies, and war, and horrible moments scattered around for good measure. At the end of the day though, The Walking Dead is not about the end of the world, but about all the ordinary people thrust into a situation they couldn't have possibly prepared for.

Only some prove to be strong enough for the new world. Many more aren't as lucky.

Because the focus is put on the people, and how they change with the horror and tragedy surrounding them, The Walking Dead is a show close to bursting with truly unforgettable characters. Whether they were once police officers, politicians, or wanderers, every character on the show has grown because of the world around them.

Not all of the characters are good, and some are very poor by most fans standards, but when a show has this many exceptional personalities, it's hard not to love.

The following list will rank the thirty characters who have appeared in the opening credits (so far). Major spoilers follow.

30. Lori Grimes (Sarah Wayne Callies)

On paper, Lori really should have been a great character. She had lost her husband, the world had ended, and she had no way of knowing what the future would hold for her and her son.

This sounds promising, but any hope of Lori being likeable was lost almost instantly. The writing was sloppy, and Sarah Wayne Callies performance did nothing to help it out.

Her reckless endangerment of Glenn and Maggie and her attempts to pit Rick and Shane against each other make her a terrible mark on the legacy of the show. That said, her death was well handled, and at least in that moment Callies looked as though she wanted to be there.
