8. We Are The End Of The World

After a pretty busy season premiere that caught us up with what many of the survivors had been up to since the conclusion of season nine, the second episode of the tenth season turned the spotlight on Alpha and the Whisperers.

While flashbacks helped reveal how Alpha and Lydia met Beta, a pivotal event that marked the birth of the Whisperer philosophy, present day events explored a consequence of last season: Alpha having forced Mary's sister to abandon her child to walkers outside of Hilltop. When her sister snapped and attacked Alpha, Mary killed her sister to protect her leader, earning herself a more important role in the group's hierarchy as Gamma.

Of course, Beta also discovered that Alpha had lied about Lydia's death, a false sacrifice that had been used to reinforce many of the Whisperers' loyalties and a dangerous secret that only created cracks in the facade further in the season. Overall, the episode's exploration of the group's origins and the establishment of Gamma as a character made it interesting, but its pushing the brakes on the momentum built by the premiere worked against it when it comes to its placement on this list.
