There are moments from each season of The Walking Dead that completely change Rick. In the first season, it was waking up from the coma, in season two it was killing Shane, and in season three it was losing Lori.

For the fourth season, the big moment that changes Rick comes in the season finale, A, as the Claimers ambush Rick, Michonne and Carl on the road and Rick rips the leader's throat out with his teeth.

As great and memorable as this moment is, A has a lot more going for it. It brings the trio back together with Daryl, features Rick's "You're my brother" speech, and introduces them all to Terminus.

Horribly violent and disturbing, A is one of the show's best finales, and a perfect tone setter for the harrowing things to come. Ending on a major cliffhanger where the Survivors are all reunited but trapped, it would be #1 on this list if it wasn't for one other episode...
