The Walking Dead: How Lennie James Hopes Morgan Dies On The Show
Fingers crossed it's not for a while yet!
The Walking Dead's eighth season is on the horizon, and with it comes all-out war. The show is going to be ramping up the action and the stakes, and that means a number of lives will be at risk. You can't have a war without some casualties, after all.
One of the many characters in the firing line is Morgan Jones, who put himself right back into the battle last year. He's one of the best fighters in Rick's militia, but his current frame of mind is cause for concern. He's been on the show since day one, which is longer than the vast majority of characters have lasted - although he did have two big breaks - and in our interview with Lennie James, we asked how he hopes Morgan goes out, should the worst happen. He said:
"I didn't really give it any thought, until I saw Sonequa [Martin-Green]'s exit last season. I just thought that was a fantastic way to go out. Everybody who goes out on our show wants to do the transformation in some shape or form, wants to do the 'what am I gonna look like as a walker?' kind of transformation. So any exit for me would, hopefully, involve the chance to come back as my version of a walker.
"Hopefully it would be as integral to the story as Sasha's was, I just thought that was a brilliant way out, to sacrifice yourself in order to try take Negan out. Something that has that kind of impact would be good. Failing that, just let him wander off into the dark and just hear him howl."
Morgan has had an incredible arc on the series, and definitely deserves a strong send-off when the time comes. And for his character, there's something poetic about that wandering off into the darkness idea. You can read the full interview with James here.
