The Walking Dead Season 8: 10 Most Revealing Things The Cast Have Said
10. "Season 8 Is My Favourite Season For A Long Time"
What Was Said?
"Season eight is my favorite season for a long time. It feels likes we are back to the show - and certainly the leader that I loved playing - in earlier seasons. And you see him sort of regaining his identity and his strength and becoming a new type of leader and sort of forming a new bond with other people that, up until this point, they haven’t existed."
Who Said It?
Andrew Lincoln (Rick Grimes) - Entertainment Weekly
What Does This Mean?
This makes it pretty clear that Rick is not going to be dictated to by Negan anymore. For much of season seven, Officer Friendly acted against the instincts that made him the leader that he was, in order to protect those closest to him. But now he knows there is no protection from Negan, we get the Rick that we know and love back.
That Lincoln spoke so highly of season eight is a promising sign that the show will bounce back strongly from its poorest season yet. For the upcoming run, much of the misery of Negan’s rule needs to be replaced with small victories of hope for Rick and his friends, which Lincoln strongly hinted at due to his rediscovered enjoyment in playing the role.
