The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live Review - 4 Ups & 6 Downs From "The Last Time"
8. Down: The CRM Are So Boring
I've been banging on about how dull the CRM are since day one, and "The Last Time" has confirmed it: They might just be the most disappointing villains in The Walking Dead, period.
Now, they're not without their merits, especially at the show's start when Rick, unable to escape their clutches, was beaten into a hollow shell of the man he once was. But this is the finale, the show's last hurrah, and they're still giving us nothing but vague threats as they're easily brought to the ground.
Much like Negan in the mainline show's eighth season, the CRM prove to be all talk, their intentions - to take over the world as, as Beale says, it races toward an inevitable doom - underexplored, hinting at something greater than what "The Last Time" gives us.
We have an unhinged villain speech from Beale, who thinks he's doing what's right despite his complete detachment from reality, and Michonne learns the CRM are planning kidnap a host of children for their cause, but that's about it. Despite the fact they've loomed over the franchise since day one, they're all talk and no bite.
