As the episodes of season ten progressed, Mulder and Scully seemed to gravitate from being an amicably divorced couple (not literally) to close friends to... well, we don't know. After acknowledging that giving up their son has affected them more than they ever anticipated, they seem somewhat at ease with one another, which was not the case out of the gate. It's a holding hands, taking walks sort of comfort, not a casual sex sort of comfort. Yet what does it mean? Are Mulder and Scully back together? Will they once again become romantically attached? With this fan base, there's no way you can please all the parties all the time, but eventually the situation needs finality.
