The X-Files: 10 Things Every Fan Needs To Know About The New Episodes

By Mike Morgan /

1. Fans Should Worry About Mulder's Mental State

Brace yourselves - at the start of this new series, Mulder will not be in his iconic suit. He'll be dressed in a rumpled green jacket and he'll be sporting plenty of stubble. Fans are meant to take these visual cues as indications of the character's mental state. In fact, Duchovny is on record as saying, "He's in a dark, dark place." Also, Mulder and Scully, despite that kiss at the end of The X-Files: I Want To Believe, aren't living together. Fans who "ship" Mulder and Scully might just to brace themselves for that aspect of the revived series. The two facts are probably connected - Scully isn't "with" Mulder because his obsession with all things UFO has gotten so out of control. But X-Philes know the score - by the end of this series, Fox Mulder is certain to be back in that suit, chewing away on his favourite snack of sunflower seeds. That character arc will leave the show in a good place by the conclusion of episode 6. If the ratings weren't stellar, fans will be able to say goodbye in the knowledge that the series finished properly, and if ratings do perform spectacularly, the show will be well placed to go from strength to strength. Here's to that hoped-for outcome and many, many more new episodes to come. What things are you excited to see in the new X-Files series? Let us know in the comments section.
