8. The Twelfth Doctor Is Just Miserable

Peter Capaldi's Doctor is often thought of as grumpy, cold, and dour. This is a frustratingly common perception among casual viewers and non-fans, but we know better than that, don't we?

Capaldi is one of the best actors ever to play the role, often having the best-acted sequences in the show's history to boot. But coming off the back of two 'boyfriend Doctors', alongside his association with playing grumpy, loud, and mean characters (especially Malcolm Tucker in The Thick of It) garnered Twelve something of an unfair reputation.

Frankly he's also amazing at playing those types of characters, so it was no surprise that a lot of the general audience took those preconceived notions and applied them to his iteration of the Doctor!

But talk to any regular viewer of Doctor Who, and they'll tell you that Capaldi's Time Lord is one of the kindest, most caring iterations. A man who always looks for the best in others, even his greatest enemies.

Crucially, Twelve is also one of the funniest incarnations, which you'd think people would also assume based on Capaldi's previous comedy work, but they never do. Twelve is always ready with a sharp quip or a bit of sass, and Capaldi's wit is put to incredible use throughout his run.

It certainly didn't help that his exterior could be quite abrasive, but the Twelfth Doctor is a fine example of not judging a book by its cover. Or, a Time Lord by his eyebrows.
