Without a doubt, the most unexpected thing in the trailer is the complete overhaul of Lady Penelope's pink car. It now comes with retractable wings! The original vehicle was one of the most popular in the entire programme. This radical redesign, again, seems carefully done, successfully retaining the charm of the 1960s car. Of course, if Lady P's car can now fly, there's no telling what else it can do. It could be equipped with an entire range of secret spy accessories a la James Bond's Aston Martin. So fingers crossed for an ejector seat! With this effort put into her transportation, it looks like Lady Penelope will be playing a significant role in the new stories, just as she did in the original series. This can only be for the good of the rebooted programme; the secret agent plotlines made possible by her character were always a crucial element of Thunderbirds and helped move stories along. Whilst the Tracy brothers are great as pilots, it's hard to imagine them being any good at investigating something.
