10. How Not To Live Your Life €“ It€™s A Don-derful Life (BBC3, 2011)

In the last episode of the BBC3 series following the life of misguided, twenty-something orphan Don Danbury, Don attempts to confess his love for flatmate Sam while preparing to sell his house to a property developer. But can he really break up the bizarre family he€™s built up? This one€™s a strange candidate for being so high up on the list given that it€™s only a year old and it€™s a very niche comedy confined to BBC3, but the episode is so strong itself that it really didn€™t belong anywhere below the top ten. The series€™ trademark cutaways showing various things that have either happened or could happen (e.g. 5 People Don€™s Spent Christmas With) are a bit scarce but it€™s full of good moments elsewhere. It€™s a an excellent standalone episode as well as being a decent send-off for the series with a pair of great musical numbers and a show-stealing performance by Leila Hoffman (Bad Education) as foul-mouthed OAP Mrs Treacher. A worthy end to the series and a great Christmas episode. Best Moment: Don waking up in bed with Mrs Treacher.
