True Blood: 10 Answers We Must Get In The Final Season

9. What's Up With Lafayette?

This one is more for the fans then for the overall story. Lafayette was left without much to do is season six and as the series winds down, fans are wondering how the line cook/demon wizard will join the fray in the final flurry. Lafayette€™s arc, moving from drug-dealing male prostitute and comic relief to the role of demon battling medium and comic relief, came to a sputtering halt when that transition was completed. Since the death of his partner, Jesus, his storyline has stalled and the character has mostly floated on the perimeter getting into scattered misadventures and running B-story errands. The days of Lafayette€™s direct involvement in the forward motion of the show have ended, and in some form that must be turned around for the service of the fans and the show itself. For the seventh and final season, there needs to be a strong utilisation of the lessons and powers he has earned. Lafayette may not get out of the season alive, but he certainly needs to be seen living throughout it. Moving the character of Lafayette from the barbecued gator at the end of season six to a fitting and hard-fought goodbye at the series close is needed, and it would be a bad choice to leave fans once again wondering what€™s up with Lafayette when the final credits roll.
