Once again, the task writing of all eight episodes falls on the shoulders or hands of just one man, the shows creator Nic Pizzolatto. In fairness, he did an alright (alright alright) job first time round. He actually started out as a fiction writer, with a few short stories and a novel to his name, and True Detective was initially conceived as a novel something that comes across in its eight-episode run while he also wrote a couple of episodes of The Killing. The themes explored in the show, the darkness and dubious morals, the read-too-much-into-it lines of dialogue, all of it stems from Pizzolatto, and will do again for season 2. Hes also spoken of writing for his actors, which worked brilliantly for McConaughey and Harrelson, and should come in handy for this lot
