If Twin Peaks in general was confusing, then the finale of Season Two was downright incomprehensible. With time travel, ghosts, evil spirits and doppelgangers all putting in an appearance in the Black Lodge, it was anyone's guess what was really going on. One of the biggest unresolved points of the show, and arguably the most shocking twist, came in the final scene where Agent Cooper looked into a mirror and saw the reflection of the demonic Bob staring back at him. Previously, Cooper had agreed to give up his soul in exchange for the safety of love-interest Annie, but this Faustian deal was thought to have been undone with a bit of time-travel voodoo. To date, no-one's really sure who, or what, Agent Cooper had become in the show's closing scene. They mystery was, inevitably, tied to the true identity of Bob as either a manifestation of Leeland Palmer's psychosis or a manifestation of human evil. With the show returning, it's entirely possible that Cooper will still be possessed by Bob after all these years.
