One of the more down-to-earth plotlines of the show followed the romance between Police secretary Lucy and Deputy Andy Brennan. The relationship was thrown into chaos when Lucy revealed she was pregnant, despite the fact that Andy's low sperm count made it unlikely that he could father a child. Question of the unborn child's paternity was never really resolved, although Lucy always maintained that Andy was the father. Lucy's child would now be in his or her mid-twenties, roughly the same age of many of the original characters. With the show looking to appeal to both old and new viewers, Lucy's child, now an adult, is likely to play a key role in the new series.
