One of the earliest shocks for the audience in 1990 came when Sheryl Lee, the actress who portrayed murdered high-school student Laura Palmer, reappeared as her near-identical cousin, Maddy. Fate caught up with Maddy towards the end of the second season where, like her cousin, she was murdered by Bob. With Sheryl Lee already confirmed as returning to the show in 2016, speculation is running rife with the role she will be playing. While Lee simultaneously played both Maddy and the deceased Laura in various flashbacks and dream sequences, it seems unlikely that the actress will be able to pass as a teenager in the show's return. One suggested possibility is that she would be yet another cousin or relative with a startling resemblance to Laura, and that this character would, once again, be murdered by Bob.
