5. And He's Been Playing A Long Game

In 1991, in the last episode of the original Twin Peaks, Laura Palmer sits with Special Agent Dale Cooper in the Red Room and says, €œIn 25 years, I will see you again.€ And, as if by magic, here we are, just under two and half decades later, with Twin Peaks just around the corner. When Lynch confirmed that the new show would be a continuation of the original show, rather than a reboot or remake, he let slip that the 25-year time gap would be a significant part of Twin Peaks moving forwards. Being Twin Peaks, this has led to theories involving everything from a connection between the supernatural elements of the show and alien activity, planetary alignments, and reincarnation. Of course, whether David Lynch actually intended to bring the show back after such a long, if specific, time period is unknown, and what impact on the plot this jump forwards will have remains to be seen.
