Ultimate Spider-Man: 5 Reasons You Should be Watching

If you watch the last few episodes of the first season, you know that this show can accomplish some great things. When the show sticks to Spider-Man fighting his famous enemies, and Peter Parker dealing with real life situations, the show is tremendous. Drake Bell does a wonderful job of voicing Spider-Man, as does the rest of the cast with their respective parts, which includes J.K. Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson. I would be remiss not praise the writers who do a great job of keeping the majority of the episodes self-contained while still maintaining a season length story arc. Its a wise tactic that allows new viewers to jump into the show while keeping regular viewers tuning in. And thats what its really all about, getting new viewers into the world of Spider-Man and the Marvel Universe. The 90s animated series was for me when I was growing up, just as Ultimate Spider-Man is for another generation to enjoy. The show hasnt re-invented Spider-Man; its re-invented the way we watch Spider-Man. I think its a unique and interesting take and one that deserves some consideration. My hope is that the second season keeps the focus on Spider-Man and his famous villains. The second seasons first three episodes are titled The Lizard, Electro, and The Rhino so Im happy. If they can keep the tone theyve created and add the gravitas of the first seasons final episodes, then the next generation of Spider-Man fans will have a tremendous show that they can remember fondly.
