10. Drowned Yidu In France

Vikings always had a strange habit of introducing fascinating characters only to have them swiftly killed off within a few episodes.

Yidu was introduced to us in season four as a slave girl that both Aslaug and Ragnar took an interest in. Eventually, it was revealed that Yidu was, in fact, a member of Chinese royalty, and the illegitimate daughter of the current emperor.

She had a quick wit and was able to provide some words of wisdom to Ragnar's deteriorating mental state. Unfortunately for her, she made the fatal decision of offering a mysterious drug to the Viking which helped him cope with his misdeeds.

Ragnar quickly grew addicted to the substance and demanded more and more off Yidu until she decided to cut him off. His previously loving and passionate attitude towards her swiftly changed to rage as she threatened him with the knowledge that she knew he was hiding something from his people.

When confronted with this ultimatum, he grabbed the woman and drowned her on the spot, thousands of miles away from home, without any hesitation.
