The Walking Dead: 15 Best Zombie Kills (So Far)

By Laura Hurley /

5. Glenn Prevails ("When The Dead Come Knocking")

By the middle of season three, Glenn really ought to have figured out that nothing good ever happens when he goes on runs. On a routine trip to loot some baby formula, he and Maggie are abducted by Merle Dixon and taken to the Governor, who wants to know where their group is holed up. Neither of them will talk, so Merle decides that he's done with the askin' and wants to get on with the killin' portion of the interviews. He locks Glenn €“ who has already been beaten and is now duct-taped to a wooden chair €“ alone in a small room with a hungry Walker. Not one to give up, Glenn manages to get to his feet. He knocks debris at the Walker, shielding himself with whatever he can manage as he rams the chair backward against the wall, eventually breaking it. The Walker advances on him, so Glenn stabs it through the skull with a broken arm of the chair, still taped to his wrist. Why It's Great: Poor Glenn. He goes on a simple supply run with his girlfriend and ends up being tortured. Then, Merle leaves him immobilized at the mercy of a ravenous Walker as revenge for the handcuffing incident back in season one (which was not even Glenn's fault). Fortunately, Glenn is not the same man that he was when last he and Merle saw each other, and we get one of the show's best zombie kills.
