The Walking Dead is an immensely popular series. Each episode is immediately followed by a talk show devoted to discussion about that particular installment. Riots have been threatened if one character or another were to be killed, and discussion has become a dangerous game for advocates of opposing 'ships. There are t-shirts and bumper stickers and action figures for everybody from Rick Grimes to Michonne's pet Walkers. Fans of The Walking Dead are some of the most devoted ever to take social media by storm. Season 4 has been surprisingly divisive among viewers, and the heavy focus on character rather than action in the second half has proved occasionally disconcerting. The ensemble episodes tend to allow everybody's favourite character a moment or two in the spotlight, and this second half has left many favourites off-screen for weeks at a time. Fortunately, "The Grove" was such a quality episode that even those who may not be Carol's biggest fans or the most patient with Tyreese could not be counted upon to criticise. Of course, no episode is completely perfect, and there are a few aspects that could have been handled better. Overall, however, "The Grove" was one of the greatest and most shocking episodes of the entire series thus far. So, without further ado, here is a list of what this episode did so very well...as well as those things that didn't really work.
