WandaVision 2021 Release Date Confirmed
MCU fans will have to wait a little longer than expected for the first Disney+ Marvel show.
After months of speculation, Marvel Studios and Disney have finally confirmed the release date for WandaVision, the upcoming Disney+ TV show centred around Avengers Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany).
Although WandaVision was originally slated to release next year, with the upcoming Falcon & Winter Soldier series initially intended to be the first MCU show to launch on Disney+, the ongoing pandemic forced Disney to change their plans and switch the two around. Speculation since had pointed towards the series launching at the end of 2020 - most likely December - but now we finally have our answer.
WandaVision will start streaming on Disney+ January 15, 2021. The announcement came courtesy of Disney's official Marvel accounts on Thursday, finally putting an end to fan speculation and giving a firm date for audiences to prepare for.
It's not as soon as a lot of fans may have hoped, but those Marvel fans also into Star Wars will at least have Season 2 of The Mandalorian to keep them company until then. It's likely WandaVision will stream in a similar fashion to Lucasfilm's first Star Wars TV show as well, releasing one episode each week, as opposed to the binge-viewing model that was once popular on Netflix and other streaming services in the past.
Either way, WandaVision is shaping up to be one of the most unique Marvel offerings yet. Here's hoping it doesn't disappoint when it drops early next year.
