TV-MA. This program is specifically designed to be viewed by adults and therefore may be unsuitable for children under 17. Based the Philip K Dick of the same name, The Man In The High Castle is a science fiction thriller which takes an alternative look at reality. Set in 1962, the world is seen as if the Axis powers of World War II had been victorious over the Allies. Due for a series release on Amazon Prime on 20th November, the original pilot episode originally aired back in January. Proving to be hugely successful, it became Amazon's most watched 'original' show ever at the time, and a full series of 10 episodes was promptly commissioned in February. The show depicts a dystopian US which has been split in to 3 separate areas; the Japanese controlled west territory, the German controlled East territory, and a segregating 'Neutral Zone' in the middle. Society is immersed in smothering propaganda and messages of fairness, aspiration, and entrenched community spirit. In reality this actually translates to oppressions of free will and individual beliefs, and a dictatorial governance which demands conformity and subservience across its people. Following the death of her half-sister by Japanese security forces, Juliana decides to take her place and complete the mission she was due to carry out for the resistance. This mission is to deliver a film reel, entitled The Grasshopper Lies Heavy, to someone in Canon City, Colorado nestled within the Rocky Mountains. The film is a collection of news clips which purport to a society in which the Allies have been victorious, and the US is not controlled by Japanese and German rule. Juliana believes the film is a realisation of how the world should be. Her boyfriend on the other hand thinks the film is something that has been constructed to further the interests of its supposed creator - someone people only know as 'The Man In The High Castle'. Produced by Ridley Scott The Man In The High Castle is a gripping and interesting representation of how the world may could have been altogether altered by a reversal at the end of the war.
