10. The Clock Motif

Anyone familiar with either the Watchmen film or comic is aware that time is one its biggest themes. This is largely due to the continual countdown that takes place throughout the series, counting down to 12 o'clock, wherein Ozymandias' plan to wipe out a portion of humanity will take place.

The continual chanting of the phrase 'tick tock', then, might be our biggest clue into the exact nature of the conflict that clearly takes place in the series.

In particular, this may be a verbal representation of the foul truth that the general public found out - that the 'alien invasion' that killed millions was, in fact, created by superhero Adrian Veidt, to bring the remainder of humanity together against a unifying threat.

Although it may instead be counting down to another event, seeing the aftermath of the discovery the alien attack was false would make for a completely engaging backdrop to the show itself.
