Curse that white raven.

As if a shortened Season 7 wasn't bad enough, it now looks like we might have to wait even longer to be able to see it.

The gap between the season ending in June and starting again in April is always agonising, but now the showrunners have said that production on Season 7 is likely to start later than usual, which could of course have a knock-on effect for when it airs. The reason? Because winter is no longer coming, but has finally arrived.

During an appearance on the UFC Unfiltered podcast, Dan Weiss said:

"We don’t have an air date yet, but this year will probably be a bit later. We’re starting a bit later because at the end of this season, winter is here. And that means that sunny weather doesn’t really serve our purposes any more. So we’ve kind of pushed everything down the line, so we could get some grim, grey weather even in the sunnier places that we shoot."

That's understandable, given winter is supposed to take over all the Seven Kingdoms, so you can't have it looking like it's summer in King's Landing. With Season 7 expected to have just seven episodes, it may be that a later production is countered by fewer episodes to produce, but it does seem at the moment the wait will be even harder than usual.
