5 Burning Question That Will Be Answered At UFC 236
3. Is Ovince Saint Preux Still A Viable Title Contender At Light Heavyweight?
A few short years ago — 2016 to be exact — Ovince Saint Preux was challenging Jon Jones for the interim light heavyweight title. Since the Jones fight, the former college football player has gone 4-4 in his last eight contests and is currently the 12th ranked fighter in his division.
This Saturday, Saint Preux will be taking on Nikita Krylov, a man he defeated back 2014 via Von Flute choke. Roughly five years later, both men find themselves at very different points in their careers.
Now 36, having lost two of last three fights, Saint Preux is likely a loss away from falling out of the top 15. Conversely, Krylov just turned 27 and is in the prime of his career. Moreover, the Ukrainian has won four of his last five fights. With a win over the Saint Preux, Krylov will likely have a number next to his name going forward.
Simply put, if Ovince Saint Preux wants another crack at Jones, he can't afford any more setbacks. At UFC 236, he'll have a chance to show the UFC brass that he's still a contender at light heavyweight.
