UFC 235 had been built up by many as one of the best cards the UFC has ever produced, and it definitely delivered, as there was some great action throughout the card.

Jon Jones was a huge favourite going into his fight with Anthony Smith and proved why, battering 'Lionheart' for five rounds en route to a decision. In typical Jon Jones fashion, there was a little bit of controversy as 'Bones' landed an illegal knee to Smith who was considered a downed opponent. Despite having two points taken away from him, he still walked away with a unanimous decision victory, bringing his record to an incredible 24-1-(1 No Contest).

Not all the night's favourites managed to be as successful as Jones though, as Tyron Woodley had his UFC welterweight title snatched from him in dominating fashion by Kamaru Usman. Usman was on the then-champion from the very moment the referee signalled them to fight, disabling his attacks by using offensive wrestling and never-ending cardio to grind 'The Chosen One' out and become the first African-born fighter to become a UFC champion.

Although Ben Askren got himself a victory on his UFC debut, it didn't come in the way anyone expected. After getting slammed and smashed in the face by some heavy elbows from Robbie Lawler, Askren managed to scramble to his feet, take Lawler's back and lock in a Bulldog Choke.

At first glance, it looked like Lawler had been choked unconscious so the referee jumped in. However, it turns out that he was actually fine and the referee made a huge, huge mistake in the process. Hopefully, the two welterweights get to rematch each other in the future.
