4. This Wasn’t Great
The resultant match between May and Nikkita wasn't worthwhile either.
Perhaps it didn't help that this was the second AEW regular vs. local enhancement worker women's division match in a row, but Mariah and Nikkita was a miss. It was a bit clunky, and would've surely played before silence had Storm not been around ringside adding some personality. That's worrying considering future plans with May.
She'll go on to challenge Toni for the Women's Title eventually, but it'll be hard to make fans care about her as a babyface. Or, maybe All Elite will go with Storm as the hero of the piece instead. That might be for the best. Clunky in-ring work wasn't the only downer working against this segment though.
One Deonna Purrazzo (more on her later) was in the segment immediately prior to this one, but didn't bother to show up despite currently feuding with Toni and May. That didn't make a lot of sense. Surely the frustrated challenger would want to get a little payback on both rivals?
Apparently not.
