One minute, Miz and Morrison are gunging saps like they're on a kid's TV show. The next, ex-alcoholic Jeff Hardy is driving drunk and running over co-workers like Elias as Renee Young hits the scene to play a concerned roving reporter on CNN. That's quite the change in tone.

Fair play to Jeff for willingly pushing his very-real personal demons onto television. If that helps his recovery process, then nobody can point fingers. However, wrestling fans are absolutely allowed to nervously glance from side-to-side and find this gritty reality-meets-OTT fantasy thing awkward, especially if WWE then marry it with comedy.

In 2020, Hardy went from speaking openly about his addictions to throwing p*ss into Sheamus' face. There's a disconnect there, and it's not one WWE will ever fix. 2021's approach to real life integration will be the same as ever - it'll be souped up soap opera that flits between realism and absurdity.
