5. Rey Mysterio
By his own admission, WCW gaffer Eric Bischoff asked for some help when scouting talent to mould the rejigged Cruiserweight division around in 1996. He knew what he wanted, he just didn't know who, and that's where Konnan's knowledge of Lucha Libre came in handy.
Konnan recommended a whole host of names to Bischoff, including Psichosis, Super Caló, The Ultimo Dragon and a fresh-faced Rey Mysterio. Instantly, it was Mysterio who caught the eye. His high-flying offensive style, silky-smooth transitions from spot to spot and superhero-like appearance was exactly what the boss wanted.
It confirmed to Bischoff what he had already suspected when seeing Rey's performance on the co-promoted AAA/WCW pay-per-view When Worlds Collide in 1994.
Six years removed from his WCW bow, and after some hiccups with his patented mask in WCW, Rey joined WWE and became a megastar. He won World Titles, sold replica masks by the ton and established himself as the name synonymous with the Lucha style around the world.
