10 Awesome 2020 Wrestling Moments We Wish Had Live Fans
2. Drew McIntyre's WWE Title Win
WWE seems to have a lack of attachment to long-term storytelling, as they focus more on the week to week action of the company as opposed to laying the groundwork for something later. On occasion, however, a wrestling story genuinely develops, even if by accident, and makes a huge impact.
The gradual rise, then drastic decline then skyrocketing flight of Drew McIntyre has been a story in the making for the last thirteen years. He came into WWE with an unbelievably amount of fanfare and departed with barely even a clap.
After reinventing himself and utterly killing it outside of the company, he was eventually welcomed back with open arms, and after an extended amount of time spent as an irrelevant performer, he won the Royal Rumble and then defeated Lesnar at WrestleMania to claim his first world title.
This meteoric rise has led to one of the best babyface champions we have had in modern wrestling history, and WrestleMania should have been his crowning glory. Although seeing him win was still phenomenal, McIntyre sadly didn't get the grandiose Mania moment that this win was deserving of as there was no crowd to share it with him.
You only win your first world title once, and it's a shame it went down like this for the bonafide top babyface of the company.
