There was no way that Bayley could have a typical match against Nia Jax. The heel challenger for the NXT Women's Title is simply too large for the champion to realistically bump around the ring like a pinball. Due to this, there needed to be some sort of strategy employed, and that was something both women were obviously keenly aware of. As soon as the bell sounded, Jax was painted as the confident one. Her girth and size was smartly played into the match, and the announcers did a great job of selling the fact that Bayley would have to think outside the box in order to beat her. That was incorporated into the finish, one which thrilled the live crowd. Bayley looked legitimately touched by the reception she received at the start, but that was nothing compared to the pop which accompanied her victory. The main thread of the bout was that Bayley had to try and chop down the larger woman, often attempting in vain to get Nia off of her feet. Finally, with the aid of a submission hold she repeatedly came back to, the champion was able to do this. When Jax tapped out, the fans shared that sense of achievement with Bayley.
