10 Awesome WWE PPV Names That Should Return

TLC? Blah. Payback? Yawn. Here are some better PPV names that WWE should look at bringing back.

Extreme Rules? Hell In A Cell? TLC? While the match types may be exciting, these aren't the greatest names for WWE pay-per-view events. WrestleMania, SummerSlam, Royal Rumble - those are some quality event names and there's reasons they've survived for as long as they have. These shows have a certain "je ne sais quoi" or cachet that is often extremely hard to re-create and currently lacking from the lineup of WWE PPVs today. Some are hokey, some are cheesy, and others are just downright lazy. Then there are some old WCW titles that, despite some fans wanting to see resurrected, carry too much of a stigma from the now-defunct, once-upon-a-time enemy of WWE that Vince McMahon would likely not choose to put over by bringing back. Names like Starrcade, Fall Brawl, Bash At The Beach and SuperBrawl were such strong staples promotion that, while great PPV events, are just so unlikely to be seen on WWE television that they've been left off the list. The importance of PPV branding goes beyond just the title of the show. WWE could call back to the classic encounters that took place at those events and make use of their rich history. For whatever reasons, WWE has chosen to disband several successful PPV titles over the years and when WWE decides to move on from something, they hardly ever look back. It might be in their best interest to look back to the past and bring back some quality supershow monikers.
