3. Cody Rhodes

The American Nightmare started off 2020 in a great way. He featured in the first ever cage match on AEW TV and secured a victory over Wardlow with a death-defying moonsault. Cody then lost to MJF at Revolution, but since then Cody has been on an absolute tear.

He was announced for the TNT Championship tournament, which he went on to win, defeating his rival Lance Archer in the finals. From there, Cody went on to have exhibition matches against great independent talent as well as underused AEW Players. He battled Eddie Kingston, War Horse, Ricky Starks, Jake Hager and Scorpio Sky.

An over-confident Cody lost the TNT Championship to Brodie Lee. This showed the development of the Cody character and made him even more of a complex babyface. After a short break from the ring, Cody returned and defeated Lee in an INCREDIBLE Dog Collar match to regain the TNT Title.

After a few defences on TV, Cody then lost the belt to his long-time rival Darby Allin, and in the most babyface move of the year, gracefully handed the belt to Allin. 2020 has cemented Cody as one of the top babyfaces in the company, through his promos and matches. So this will just make the inevitable heel turn all the more devastating.
